Saturday Story Time
Picture books, songs, and a simple craft for children ages 2–6. Caregivers stay for the session. Runs most Saturdays except long weekends. Free.

Our recurring events are the backbone of the shop's community life. Drop in for story time with your little ones, or join a book club that meets after the dinner hour. You don't need to buy the book from us to participate — though we usually have copies on hand.
For author evenings and workshops, we sometimes need a head count. Email us or sign up at the counter when you see a flyer.

First Thursday of each month. We discuss one mystery title — April's pick is The Maid by Nita Prose. New members welcome; tea provided.

Port Hope-based novelist reads from her new book set on Lake Ontario. Q&A and signing to follow. Seats limited — email [email protected] to reserve.

Young Writers Workshop
Two-hour session for ages 11–14 with local teacher and poet James Reid. Bring a notebook. Registration required; $15 per participant.

Bi-weekly · 6pm
Evening Poetry Circle
Informal read-aloud of published poems and occasional open mic. Every second Wednesday. No experience needed — just show up with something you'd like to share or listen.
Book clubs
Join a group
Harbour Mystery Club
Meets first Thursday, 7pm. Cozy through hard-boiled — the group votes on each month's title. David hosts. Roughly 10–14 people per meeting.
Great Lakes Non-Fiction
Quarterly discussion of history, memoir, and nature writing about the region. Next meeting: September. Ask at the counter for the current title.
Host an event with us
School groups, writing circles, and local organizations sometimes use our back room after hours. If you have an idea that fits a bookshop, get in touch — we're open to it if the schedule allows.
